President of Turkmenistan calls for joint efforts to counter the threat to humanity
“It is obvious that today mankind has faced a new, extremely serious challenge, covering vast geographical spaces, affecting the life of many states and peoples,” said President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the summit of the Turkic Council, which took place today in a video conference on combating the coronavirus pandemic . The Turkmen leader was invited by President Ilham Aliyev as chairman of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States to join the discussion on this topic together with the heads of state members of the Council - Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey. Speaking at a video conference, Berdimuhamedov said that today special responsibility, deliberation and foresight are required in making decisions. “We must rely on the realization that we can only achieve results through joint efforts.” The head of state noted that as a responsible participant in the international community, Turkmenistan from the first days of the threat of the spread of coronavirus has established close active contacts with the UN and, above all, with the World Health Organization. Directly within the country, the entire healthcare system was timely mobilized to counter the new threat. Everything necessary is acquired for healthcare institutions, and today they are equipped with the most modern equipment, personal protective equipment, test systems, medical preparations and other means, the President of Turkmenistan said. According to him, today in the country there is a clear system of sanitary and phytosanitary control, veterinary supervision.
