CIS countries are most successful in fighting coronavirus
The states of the post-Soviet space - the CIS, Ukraine and Georgia - are more successful than other regions of the world in fighting a new type of coronavirus pandemic. This follows from the statistics compiled by TASS.
So, according to this information on the number of infected COVID-19 patients in the CIS countries, in Ukraine and Georgia it exceeded 18.5 thousand. Moreover, the death rate among patients in these countries at the moment is 1.13% - five times less than in the world average (6.1%).
The largest number of infections among the CIS countries was recorded in Russia, where, according to the latest data from the operational headquarters, 10,131 people fell ill. Following are Belarus (1,486 cases), Moldova (1,289), Azerbaijan (926), Armenia (921), Kazakhstan (781), Uzbekistan (582) and Kyrgyzstan (280). In Ukraine, 1 892 cases of infection were recorded, and in Georgia - 218. Moreover, in Tajikistan and Turkmenistan not a single case of infection was recorded.
With the exception of Moldova, where 2.25% of patients died, in the CIS countries the death rate does not currently exceed 1.5%. The lowest rates were recorded in Russia and Uzbekistan (0.75% and 0.52%, respectively); in others, it ranges from 0.97% to 1.43%.
Among countries where more than 5 thousand people fell ill, the highest mortality rates are in France (14.14%), Italy (12.73%), Great Britain (12.26%), the Netherlands (11.01%), Belgium ( 10.1%) and Spain (10%). Following them are Sweden (8.68%), Iran (6.21%) and Brazil (5.27%). In the United States, which accounts for almost a third of all infections in the world, 3.56% of patients have died.
According to the latest data, around 1.6 million people have been infected with the coronavirus in the world, over 100 thousand deaths have been recorded.
