Mr. Berdimuhamedov spoke for preservation of cargo transportation in the region to stabilize the economies


President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, addressing an Extraordinary Summit of the Turkic Council dedicated to cooperation and solidarity in the fight against coronavirus, drew the attention of his colleagues – the presidents of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkey to the importance of maintaining trade and economic ties for the pandemic mitigation. “Understanding the severity of the situation, at the same time Turkmenistan believes that in the current conditions it is necessary to ensure the resilience and stability of trade and economic relations, transport links between states,” said Mr. Berdimuhamedov at a video conference of the Turkic Council. Turkmenistan, in cooperation with its partners and neighboring states, takes measures to ensure these relations to be regular and reliable mutual supply and transit transport schemes to be maintained. As an example, the head of state mentioned the Turkmenbashi-Baku ferry service operating in the Caspian Sea, which is the most important link for cargo flows in the vast geo-economic space. “Joint actions in the region with our partners allow us to ensure the normal functioning of transport corridors along the East-West and North-South lines,” assured the Turkmen leader. In his opinion, all countries represented at the summit are a geographical bridge through which international cooperation in Eurasia is carried out. “This fact imposes a special responsibility on us, and the current and future stability of economic processes on the continent depends to a large extent on the coherence and coordination of our actions,” said Mr. Berdimuhamedov. The President shared confidence that during this difficult period, the countries will be able to overcome difficulties together and strengthen fraternal relations.
