President of Turkmenistan proposes to create a Children's School Organization and award medals to graduates

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov put forward a number of important initiatives to improve school education during a working session with participation of Deputy Prime Minister Purli Agamyradov and Minister of Education Mammetmyrat Geldinyyazov, Having noted the importance of the activities of the Youth Organization of Turkmenistan named after Makhtumkuli, which unites the younger generation over 14 years old, the head of state considered it expedient to establish the Children's Organization of Turkmenistan “Altyn Nesil” that to be comprised of secondary schools  students 7 to 14 years old. According to the head of state, in order to organize educational work on a scientific basis, it is necessary to consider the issue of introducing the position of a teacher-psychologist in secondary schools, where the number of students exceeds 300 persons. To increase the efficiency of the educational process and promote those schoolchildren who achieve high results in studies and public work, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed graduates to be awarded with gold, silver and bronze medals, while senior students to be awarded with the Presidential scholarship. “In accordance with the indicators of the UN Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the Government of Turkmenistan, it is necessary to ensure high quality education,” the head of state emphasized. In this regard, the Turkmen leader highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation with UNICEF, preparation and implementation new state educational standards for higher education institutions that meet international requirements.
