European experts in the field of science and technology will launch a joint initiative to support the use of digital applications in the fight against coronavirus. The new platform “Pan-European Privacy Preserving Proximity Tracing (PEPP-PT)” will develop applications that allow you to record contacts between people both within individual countries and throughout the European Union. 130 experts from eight states will participate in the development. It is emphasized that the initiative will not violate the General Data Protection Regulation, which has been in force in the EU since May 2018 and restricts access to users' personal information. According to sources in the German government, in this European country a similar application will be available in mid-April as one of the measures to ease the restrictions associated with self-isolation.
