Turkmenistan continues to return its citizens back home from other countries amid global coronavirus pandemic


Turkmenistan is continuing to work on returning of its citizens who are abroad due to the global coronavirus pandemic, the TDH State News Agency reports.
Our country was one of the first to bring its citizens back home from China, where the first novel coronavirus infectious case was confirmed in December 2019 that was spread rapidly, the report reads. Then the head of state Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov ordered the government to urgently evacuate Turkmen citizens back home.
Thousands of students from Turkmenistan who were studying at universities in different provinces and cities of China used this opportunity to return home.
Turkmen Airlines, which introduced the bans and suspended some international flights in its regular flight schedule, organized a series of charter special flights to and back China as well as to other countries with medical specialists on boards of aircrafts to bring Turkmen citizens back home.
Home is a safe place for them now. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Health, there are no case of the novel coronavirus in Turkmenistan, as, in addition to the bringing back compatriots back home, the government introduced urgent measures to prevent the importation of COVID-19 into the country and to prevent the spread of this infection. Mandatory medical control and quarantine for those arriving from abroad are among such necessary measures.
