New deliveries of medical aid from WHO and Doctors Without Borders to Iran


The World Health Organization (WHO) delivered the seventh shipment of emergency medical supplies to the Iranian authorities in connection with the outbreak of coronavirus, Iranian news agency IRNA reported. The shipment, which was made directly from WHO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, contains 2499 packs of lopinavir and ritonavir tablets needed by coronavirus infected patient. In addition, the second shipment of medical aid of the Doctors Without Borders was made from Bordeaux to Tehran yesterday, Iranian Ambassador to France Bahram Kassemi wrote on his Twitter. “The shipment includes a field hospital, medicines, masks, medical uniforms and other items. The field hospital equipment will be deployed and made ready for providing health services to patients”, he wrote. Iranian media also reported the arrival of humanitarian aid from Turkmenistan, which sent medical supplies, water and food to the neighboring country. Over the past day, 1411 new cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Iran. The total number of infected people in the country has reached 2349. As of today, the number of people died and recovered was 1812 and 8376, respectively, Iranian Ministry of Health representative Kianush Jahanpur informed.
