Hand antiseptics: DIY

Washing of hands – a first means to combat any virus. After all, we often touch our face with fingers, we lean with our chin on our palm, so a virus or bacteria comes closer to respiratory organs and mucous of the eye through which they get into an organism. In the light of pandemic wave of coronavirus the call of WHO for more carefully and active action to observe hygiene the special attention is now given to antiseptics.
Such useful thing can be made by people at home. For this purpose it is required only four components: isopropyl spirit of 99, 8 %, gel of aloe-vera, 3 % peroxide hydrogen and distilled or boiled water. The first one is on sale in shops of household appliances and is that "cleaning" substance, the second one is available in cosmetics shops, and it softens the skin of hands after application of antiseptics.
Isopropyl spirit or isopropanol is a transparent, colourless liquid with pungent smell. It dissolves many essence, some kinds of plastic, rubbers, synthetic pitches and so forth. Accordingly, it is not for internal use. And its external application in the pure state can also harm - to overdry and damage the skin on which then there will appear micro damages accessible to viruses and bacteria.
To avoid it, the gel of an aloe-vera is applied. It is possible to replace it with 98 % glycerine.
Correct proportions for preparation of antiseptics: 75 % of the mix should be spirit, 1, 45 % - glycerine, 0,125 % - peroxide. The rest is water. Measurements are better to be made with a measuring spoon or a glass. For small volumes – one should use a pipette or a syringe.
If you have defined proportions, it is necessary to mix components and to pour the received mix in a container with a closed cover – dispenser for liquid soap, an empty capacity from gel and so forth. So, spirit will not evaporate, and one can use an antiseptic more conveniently.
Before application a jar with this agent should be shaken well.
Other option is to make antiseptics with ethyl spirit.
In a used liquid according to the WHO recommendation not less than 96 % of ethanol should be present. Such substances are not available in the free market. So, it makes sense to use as a basis for antiseptics a strong alcoholic drink or medical spirit. However, such antiseptics will concede to "factory" made one.
Proportions: 80 % of ethyl spirit, 1, 45 % of glycerine and 0,125 %. The rest is water.
One should also pay attention to use of alcohol-based napkins for skin treatment before injections - they also clear the skin of microorganisms and are very convenient in application.
According to the WHO requirements, antiseptics should contain 75 % isopropanol or 80 % ethanol. Such concentration effectively controls even the coronavirus. So, handmade means can serve a good option or qualitative analogue for the purchased means.
