The main agricultural crop: on March 25 the cotton sowing campaign will start in Turkmenistan

The date of sowing of the main agricultural crop of the Turkmen agrarian and industrial complex - cotton – was determined at the video session of the government of Turkmenistan on Friday. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave an assignment to start this important agricultural campaign on March 25 in Akhal, Balkan, Lebap and Mary provinces and on March 29 - in the northern region of Dashoguz.
The cotton returns itself a predominating role in Turkmen agriculture. From 2020 Turkmenistan will increase the volume of output of cotton and will reduce wheat production. The cotton production plan has grown by 200 thousand tons and will make up 1 million 250 thousand tons. The order for grain is 1 million 400 thousand tons that is 250 thousand tons less than in 2019. Accordingly areas under wheat will decrease and the fields freed from the crop will be sown with cotton, a total sown area of which will grow to 620 thousand hectares.
It will give the chance to load completely capacities of textile enterprises, both already operating and under construction. For Turkmenistan manufacture of textile production can become a determinative in yielding of higher profit from cotton, the global market of which now faces growing risks, including uncertainty because of trading intensity.
Turkmenistan is aimed to process all cotton grown up in the country, having refused its export. According to the date of the State Statistics Service, in 2019 high rates of growth of manufacture of cotton yarn (32 %), knitted cloth (93 %), cotton fabrics (77 %) were observed.
Thus, the value volume of export of cotton fibre as compared with 2018 has decreased by 77 %, and ready textile products - has grown by 80 %.
