What did Berdimuhamedov and Mirziyoyev talk about on the eve of Nowruz ?
On Wednesday, on the eve of Nowruz Bayram, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation. Particular attention was paid to the importance of effective interaction at the government level in order to ensure effective control over the spread of the coronavirus pandemic and prevent its negative impact on bilateral relations, Sputnik Uzbekistan informs. Heads of neighboring states considered issues of strengthening Turkmen-Uzbek strategic partnership, primarily in trade, economic, energy, transport and communication spheres. Berdimuhamedov and Mirziyoyev congratulated each other and fraternal people of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan on the upcoming holiday of spring, prosperity and renewal – Nowruz. According to the latest data, in Uzbekistan, there are 15 confirmed coronavirus cases. Since Monday, the republic has suspended traffic with other countries, canceled all public events, closed theaters and cinemas. The Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan previously reported that there has not been any confirmed or suspicion COVID-19 case in the country. In order to to avoid the entry of the virus into the country, the Turkmen government also introduced traffic ban for countries with unfavourable epidemical situation and strengthened medical control in border regions of the country. The World Health Organization said on March 11 that coronavirus is a pandemic. Over 179 thousand people in more than 150 countries have already been infected worldwide, most of them have recovered and over 7.4 thousand have died.
