The program is called “Guitar and Favorite Songs”... And an amazing voice, as it would to be added to the program title also. The event will feature songs in Turkmen, Russian and English. Something from the unforgettable “old times”, during which generations grew up, something from the almost forgotten, but no less significant for its time and interesting for the present.
The singer is well known to many of us from the repertoire of the legendary Turkmen vocal and instrumental ensemble “Gunesh” and the once popular group “Destan”. Berdymurad Berdyev received Grand Prix award at the “Golden Tuning Fork” international competition, he is an author of music and songs for several films. And still, while going on a near or a long journey, he always takes along best earthly companion – the guitar.
How many roads and countries have been traveled with it, how many distances! How many concerts, events and meetings, long-awaited and sudden, important ones and not much ...

“I will start the concert with the songs that I myself once heard for the first time accompanied by a guitar,” Berdymurad gives some details of the upcoming concert. “These are the hits of the 60-70s, when everything was sung mainly to the accompaniment of this instrument. Over the years, music has changed, with new arrangements and covers, I myself have changed also, but the songs that I heard in my youth always remained for me the dearest and closest spiritually.”
According to the artist, one of the thematic parts of the concert will be dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory. Actually, this topic was the reason for the choice of a hall for a musical evening, it is a small one, but located in Ashgabat at the street named after Aga Berdyev, his uncle.
“During the war, my uncle was a secret service man, went over the front line. Over the years of World War II, he did a great job. But even after the war ended, the relatives knew very little about his heroic deed, as his service was a secret one,” Berdymurad says. “By such a dedication, I want to pay with my listeners a tribute of respect and memory to all the fallen heroes of Turkmenistan and to the war veterans who have contributed to the Great Victory.”
Having written a song to the poems of Paul German, addressed to the children of the besieged Leningrad, Berdymurad Berdyev performs it only in special cases, it will sound at the upcoming creative evening. The wartime kids were practically deprived of childhood. Early-grown boys and girls worked in factories, replacing the adults who went to the front.
- This song I performed in St. Petersburg, in the hall of the building with a memorial plaque on which it was written that during the war years there was a headquarters of civil defense. The composition touched the hearts of that population of Leningraders who survived the blockade, and this time I want to devote it to all the children of the war years.
During the concert, some of the most popular songs of Berdymurad Berdyev will also be performed. Among them, the song “Kone Guzer” from the destane “Leili and Mejnun”, “Bell” (Kolokolchik) by David Tukhmanov and much more.
Having thanked Igor Annaklychev, Artistic Director of the Artist Theater, and conductor Rovshan Nepesov, who will also be the moderator of the concert, for assistance in the concert preparation, Berdymurad promises to be sincere in an answer-question session and in sharing with the audience happy memories and new plans and ideas that creative person has definitely always have.
