Parliament of Azerbaijan: a woman became the speaker for the first time, and MP of Milli Majlis spoke about relations with Turkmenistan


For the first time, a woman was elected as the new speaker of parliament in Azerbaijan: her name is Sahiba Gafarova. The ruling party Yeni Azerbaijan (New Azerbaijan) proposed her candidacy, 116 deputies voted for Gafarova, Interfax-Azerbaijan reports.
The ruling party of Azerbaijan has more than 70 deputies in the 125-seat parliament of Azerbaijan. Gafarova was born in 1955, she graduated from the Azerbaijan Pedagogical Institute of Russian Language and Literature. Akhundova and Azerbaijan University of Foreign Languages (majoring in English).
The official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan was extremely successful. This visit once again showed that relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan are developing dynamically in terms of political dialogue, economic cooperation, relations in the humanitarian and other fields. This was stated by Trend, quoting deputy of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani parliament) Elman Nasirov.
He said that relations between the two countries are built on equal, mutually beneficial cooperation, and both countries can take a single position on strategic issues. The close relations between the heads of state of both countries as a result create new opportunities for the further development of relations.
“The fact that both peoples have common roots, one religion, historically formed ties - all this and during the period of independence will become a key factor determining the dynamic development of relations between the two countries,” Elman Nasirov added.
