COVID-19 postpones the concert of the Russian maestro in Ashgabat

In Ashgabat, the concert of chamber music of Alexei Vasiliev (cello), Honoured Artist of Russia, Rector of the St. Petersburg State Conservatory named after N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov, and Vladimir Mkrtumov (piano), the Honored Artist of Turkmenistan, was postponed for a day amid COVID-19 pandemic. As part of preventive measures to deal with the coronavirus crisis and avoid its cases in Turkmenistan, all flights arriving in the country from abroad are landed the city of Turkmenabat, the administrative center of Lebap province. At the Turkmenabat International Airport, equipped with the necessary medical equipment, passengers undergo a medical check and only after that, planes with passengers on board are allowed to flight to Ashgabat. As a result, the arrival of Alexei Vasiliev to the Turkmen capital was delayed. It was expected that he would arrive at the Ashgabat International Airport late on March 14, but he was able to come in the morning March 15. Coronavirus changed the flight schedule. There is nothing to be done as these measures in the current situation are simply necessary and well-grounded. Largely thanks to such measures, Turkmenistan has no any COVID-19 case. Taking into consideration these circumstances, the organizers of the concert – the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, the Federal Agency Rossotrudnichestvo and the Russian Embassy in Turkmenistan – decided to postpone the concert of the maestro for a day. This concert, which continues the cycle of Russian-Turkmen cultural events dedicated to the 75th Anniversary of the Great Victory in the Great Patriotic War, to be held on Monday, March 16, at the Makhtumkuli National Music and Drama Theater at 19.00.
