Possible membership of Turkmenistan in International School Sports Federation mulled over in Ashgabat


A delegation of the International School Sport Federation (ISF) visited Ashgabat to participate in the 55th meeting of the General Assembly of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU).
During a visit to the Turkmen capital, the representatives of the ISF met with the Minister of sport and youth policy of Turkmenistan Dayanch Gulgeldiyev and Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee Azat Muradov.
During the meetings, special attention was paid to the prospects of Turkmenistan's membership in the ISF and hosting events of the Federation.
The parties also discussed the development of school sports in the country and establishing a strategy of hosting international sport event.
On the sidelines of the session of the GA ABU and the 63rd Sports Group Conference ISF held a presentation on the activities of the Federation to promote the school sports movement at the global level.
The purpose of the presentation was to expand the horizons of partnership with the Asia-Pacific media, as well as to increase the interest of world media leaders to the largest school sports event of ISF - Gymnasiade School Summer Games and Gymnasiade-2020 (Jinjiang, China).
The International School Sports Federation (ISF) was founded in 1972. It has currently 108 countries and is a member of the International Olympic Committee. The main purpose of this ISF is the promotion of sports values and the organization of youth sports events for athletes of age 13-18.
The ISF World School Summer Games have been held since 1974, and the ISF World Winter School Games was held for the first time in February this year in Grenoble, France.
