Donald Trump does not rule out the rise of the Taliban power after withdrawal of troops

There is a probability that the Taliban movement can come to power in Afghanistan after withdrawal of foreign armies from the country, US President Donald Trump stated on Friday. Answering questions of journalists in the White House, the head of the state noted that the Afghani authorities have to take care of themselves as «Afghanistan.Ru» reports. "We can't be there for the next 20 years. We've been there for 20 years and we've been protecting the country but we can't be there for the next - eventually, they're going to have to protect themselves". Trump this week urged the Taliban movement to participate in the Intra-Afghani negotiations. He told it in a telephone conversation with the Taliban’s deputy leader Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar. «President Trump underlined necessity to continue reduction of level of violence which has made possible the signing of the historical agreement between the USA and Taliban» on February 29. He urged the Taliban to participate in the Intra-Afghani negotiations with representatives of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and other Afghans to put an end more than 40-year-old war», - as told in the message of the press-service of the White House. Talking on March 3 to journalists during his visit to the National Institutes of Health of the USA in the suburbs of Washington Bethesda (State of Maryland), the American leader underlined: «My relations with the Mullah are very good. We had a good long conversation. They want to stop violence. They also want to stop violence». The head of the White House refused to specify, whether it was his first telephone conversation which continued for several hours with Baradar. «I do not want to speak of it, but we had a very good conversation with the leader of the Taliban today. They aspire to end all this. And we aspire to end it. It seems to me, all of us have … common interests», - Trump told. On February 29 the USA and the Taliban movement signed the peace agreement following the results of which the United States and their allies undertake to withdraw a considerable part of the foreign contingent from Afghanistan. The peace agreement signed in Qatar means withdrawal of foreign armies from Afghanistan within 14 months. The event was preceded by restriction of operations for a week during which time the sides abstained from offensive operations.
