The President of Uzbekistan pardoned 83 women in honor of March 8

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan signed a Ukase “On pardoning a group of convicted women enduring the punishment in terms of imprisonment in connection with International Women’s Day”, Uzbek mass media reported.
The Ukase pardoned 83 women, including 7 foreign citizens. Among the pardoned persons, 12 are discharged from serving their sentences unconditionally, 29 are released on parole, and the sentence imposed on 17 persons is replaced with a more lenient one. In other words, 58 women are released from penal institutions. The sentences imposed on 25 convicted women are reduced.
Responsible ministries and agencies are charged with rendering the assistance to pardoned women in returning to their families and relatives, their social adaptation, engaging in useful work, maintaining a healthy lifestyle and taking a worthy place in society.
