Seminar on effective interaction between government agencies and the media kicks off in Ashgabat
A seminar on the skills of effective interaction between government agencies and the media, conducted by the OSCE Center in Ashgabat, started in the Ashgabat Yildiz Hotel.
Within two days, international experts Mark Bekerman and Eva Lukasik will discuss with the participants the relationship between the media and the press services of state bodies in informing citizens, the creation of government sites, as a source of information for the population, will talk about the standards of public broadcasting in the state’s information policy.
- The OSCE participating States have committed to take measures to ensure access to information, which undoubtedly plays an important role in enhancing the transparency and accountability of governments. Turkmenistan pays great attention to the issue of expanding the channels of disseminating information about the country, strengthening interaction between public authorities on the one hand, and the media and the public, on the other, said Natalya Drozd, head of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat, in her welcoming speech.
Last week, the President of Turkmenistan signed a decree according to which, until January 2021, each branch department and institution, regional and metropolitan administrations, all enterprises should ensure the functioning of electronic document management systems in their structure and create their own websites.
- Website development facilitates the work of government agencies. The website of the authority serves as a source of reliable information, especially when there is so much misinformation in the world, ”said Ewa Lukasik, an Internet communications specialist at the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland. “I want to show what a state website looks like that meets all the standards of Internet communication.” Particular emphasis should be placed on social networks. After all, it is very important that, in addition to websites, there are accounts in social networks. This is a direct road to contacts with citizens, since now everyone regularly uses instant messengers and social networks..
In this regard, the main role of the press services is to prevent the information “hunger” of the population. A huge role is played by questionnaires, which are used as feedback to study the opinions and interests of society. That is why on the site you can create a special section "questions and answers."
An integral part of the press services is the holding of press conferences, the writing of press releases. During the seminar, experts will share their experience in organizing an “ideal” press conference, as well as talk about how to use news journalism tools to attract an audience.
