ORIENT congratulates AZERTAC on its 100th anniversary
The ORIENT team members congratulate their colleagues from Azerbaijan on the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan State News Agency - AZERTAC. March 1 is the day of establishing the first national news agency of Azerbaijan, which has come a glorious century-long way. Today the AZERTAC website operates in 8 languages, and is recognized as a reputable information source. The agency has an extensive correspondent network in many countries and regions. AZERTAC has signed cooperation agreements with almost 50 foreign news agencies, and is conducting an information exchange with 150 news services of various countries. The agency is represented in international media associations such as the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA), the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA), and the Association of National News Agencies of the CIS Member States (ANNA). In 2016, AZERTAC hosted two important events in Baku: the 5th World Congress of News Agencies and the 16th OANA General Assembly, following which AZERTAC held the presidency of these two organizations for three years. Recently, the agency became one of the founders of the One Belt One Road information platform, which provides opportunities for the exchange of information on the economic processes in countries - members of the China’s initiative of the same name. In recent years, the agency has launched a number of new projects, in particular, an information portal for children was created, and a video news service started to operate.
