Women’s health is being reviewed in Turkmenistan

The health and status of women in the family is being studied in Turkmenistan. The Working Group comprising of representatives of the Ministry of Health Protection and Medical Industry, the Institute of Democracy and Law, State Committee on Statistics, the Union of Women and other state bodies with the support of the United Nations Population Fund carries out the review within the framework of the National Action Plan for Gender Equality for 2015-2020. The questionnaire is prepared on the basis of the World Health Organization enquirer and is divided into thematic sections. The survey is aimed to find out the physical, psychological and emotional health of women, their financial independence and status in the family. Medical workers – staff of maternity centers and reproduction specialists, will carry out the survey of women. They will act according to the developed and approved methodology. The review is anonymous, so any woman can refuse to participate in it. However, any data obtained during the study would contribute to the development of social policy in the country. On the outcomes of the survey, general characteristics will be summed up. In addition, in the future, the survey may affect the introduction of amendments to the legislation, the adoption of social programs and other projects that meet the needs of women.
