Transport Potential of the Caspian Sea was discussed in Geneva

On the initiative of the Permanent mission of Turkmenistan to the UN office in Geneva, together with the UNECE and the Permanent mission of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the UN office in Geneva, it was organized a round table on the theme “Transport and Communication Potential of the Caspian Sea region: Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan – the shortest way”, which was held on February 26. The event was held in Geneva, Switzerland, as part of the 82nd session of the inland transport Committee (ITC) of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). One of the meeting’s goals was to present Turkmenistan’s transport opponent capacities, the state’s infrastructure policy, future prospects for transport routes, and exchange views on the main aspects touched upon in the UN General Assembly resolution “Strengthening the links between all modes of transport to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals”. This year, Turkmenistan’s neutrality, which is a solid foundation of the state’s foreign policy, is 25 years old. This is why the logical conclusion of the round table was a photo exhibition, organized by the permanent mission of Turkmenistan to the UN office in Geneva, which narrates the country’s achievements in the field of railway, road, air and sea transport since acquiring the status of permanent Neutrality.
