Turkmen journalists take advanced training courses at TASS Agency

In Moscow, extension courses for media representatives organized by the Foundation for Cooperation with foreign Russian speaking mass media have completed. Representatives of the Turkmen media gained new knowledge along with correspondents from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Estonia and the Czech Republic.
Under the support of the TASS News Agency, trainees completed intensive training program, including various seminars, lectures and workshops, supervised by leading teachers of the Journalism Department at Moscow State University. The organizers prepared the training cours in a way that each media representative could find something interesting for himself.
“These courses were very useful for me. I managed to learn more about the functioning of several new applications and programs for sites design, as well as about new technical methods for performing professional tasks,” web designer Dunyagozel Annaberdiyeva says. “The lectures of Oleg Bakulin, the head of the Department of Photojournalism at Moscow State University, who shared about the ethical aspects of photography in modern media, were of special attention. In addition, my colleagues and I visited the editorial office of the Russian newspaper Kommersant, where the web department impressed me much. There are several more departments that deal with the content creation, the visual work of the site, its promotion and monetization. And the publication has its own radio channel.”
“I liked the practical training session by Diana Kulchitskaya, associate professor of the department of new media, where I learned a lot about modern multimedia formats and website creation technologies,” Jeren Atayeva, correspondent of Watan newspaper, shares her impressions. “I am sure that in the future this knowledge will be useful to me in my work, as our newspaper is set to be online edition.”
Turkmen correspondents were impressed by a tour of the faculty of journalism at Moscow State University, where the old building has a special atmosphere. For one day, they became students of the journalism faculty, where teachers delivered lectures on the design and improvement of information websites.
“At the seminars, I gained new knowledge. For example, about a way how good and interestingly to present information to our viewers,” Azadi Berdyklychev, host of the Turkmenistan TV channel, says. “Lectures by Gleb Fedorov, head of the “Russia Beyond” multimedia department, on how to properly conduct video shooting and how to create video content with minimal resources, were informative enough. It is honorable to be a student of lectures by highly qualified teachers from Moscow State University. I would thank the organizers for this opportunity.”
Under rapidly developing media market, the exchange of experience and techniques in the work of a modern journalist between media representatives from different countries is important. Recently, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the Turkmen media should go up a higher professional level and instructed to create conditions for the improvement of journalists’ qualifications. In this regard, the head of state noted the importance of cooperation with media organizations of other countries, as well as exchange of experience and best practices.
