In 2021, the World Championship in track cycling will be held in the capital of Turkmenistan, the site insidethegames.biz informed, citing the list of countries where cycling competitions will be held between 2020 and 2024, published by the International Union of Cyclists (UCI). The next large-scale sports event, scheduled to be held in Turkmenistan, once again demonstrates the presence in the country of a good infrastructure that has emerged literally over the past few years. Ashgabat will be the third Asian city to host the World Championship in track cycling. Previously, it was accepted by the Japanese Maebashi and Chinese Hong Kong. The championship of 2021 will be held in the Olympic city of Ashgabat on a state-of-the-art cycle track, which last year became the venue for track cycling competitions at the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. The World Weightlifting Championships will also be held on the territory of the town in November of this year. Turkmenistan is the initiator of the World Bicycle Day on June 3, which is now included in the UN holiday calendar.
