Carpet association to promote the export of national art
The Turkmenhaly Production Association (Turkencarpet), which was part of the Ministry of Textile Industry of Turkmenistan, is transferred to the jurisdiction of the government and received a State Association status. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the relevant Resolution today at an enlarged government session.
In accordance with the Decree of the head of state, Ogulhadjat Ishanguliyeva is released from the position as the Deputy Minister of the Textile Industry and is appointed as the Chairperson of the “Türkmenhaly” State Association.
Raising the status of the carpet association would support organizational work in the carpet production industry, increase its assortment and boost export.
In 2019, the country produced Turkmen carpets and rugs for 20 percent more than in 2018. The value of carpets exports grew by 173.6 percent, while its physical volumes of export increased by 5 percent only. It is explained by the fact that handmade carpets share the most part (66.7 percent) out the total export of carpets.
