Berlin held the diplomatic reception, dedicated to the anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality

An information event, dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality was held in Berlin. The event was organized by the Turkmen Embassy, inviting colleagues from the German Foreign Ministry and the “Willkommen in Berlin” diplomatic club, heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Germany, public and state figures, businessmen, as well as representatives of the Turkmen Diaspora and students from Turkmenistan studying at universities in the German capital.
Representatives of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Germany and the representative of the German Foreign Ministry for Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus and Central Asia, Michael Siebert addressed the guests.
The focus of the audience was on the unique nature of Turkmenistan’s neutrality policy, the anniversary of which is being celebrated this year. It was noted that Turkmenistan has chosen a model of positive neutrality, which sets out its fundamental provisions: peacefulness, non-interference in the affairs of other states, respect for their sovereignty and territorial integrity, and non-participation in international military organizations and treaties. The importance of neutrality in modern conditions is underlined by the establishment of the International Day of neutrality by the UN General Assembly on the initiative of Turkmenistan (December 12).
The event participants were informed that an international high-level conference “Policy of Neutrality and its Importance in Ensuring International Peace, Security and Sustainable Development” will be held in Ashgabat on December 12 this year.
The main directions of political and diplomatic cooperation between Turkmenistan and Germany were also highlighted. In the trade and economic sphere, there were reported the effectiveness of such bilateral instruments as the Turkmen-German working group on economic cooperation, the Days of the German Economy in Ashgabat, the Days of the Economy of Turkmenistan in Germany, joint business forums, etc. In this context, the participants were introduced to the largest projects of regional significance, implemented by Turkmenistan.
A powerful impetus to the development of cultural and humanitarian dialogue between the two countries was given by the archaeological exhibition “Margiana – the Kingdom of the Bronze Age on the territory of Turkmenistan”, which was held with great success in different cities of Germany for more than a year and allowed representatives of various segments of the population of this country to get acquainted with the Turkmen history and culture.
In addition to the above, the organizers provided an opportunity for guests to taste dishes of the Turkmen national cuisine.
