Panda power station in China
According to PV-tech portal, the world’s first panda solar station was put into operation in Datong, Shanxi. UNDP and Panda Green Energy Group launched the global promotion programme of panda-shaped solar plants on 1st September 2016. The plant capacity is 50 MW, but it will be increased double in the future. Called the Panda Power Plant, it will be able to produce 3.2 billion kilowatt-hours of solar energy in 25 years, according to the company. That will eliminate approximately million tons of coal that would have been used to produce electricity, reducing carbon emissions by 2.74 million tons. A youth activity centre opened at the Panda Power Plant will present the benefits of solar power to schoolchildren in China.
