Armenia discussing with Iran, Turkmenistan natural gas supply by swap

Armenia is negotiating with Turkmenistan and Iran on the purchase of natural gas by swap. This information was provided by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia in response to a Sputnik Armenia inquiry, the source reports. Under the project, it is supposed that Ashgabat will supply gas to the northern provinces of Iran, while Tehran, in turn, will supply its natural gas to Armenia, increasing its volumes. “Regarding buying gas from Turkmenistan by swap, we inform that negotiations are held regularly between Turkmenistan and Iran,” the statement said. But agreements on the volume, price, transit, and payment method of this natural gas have not yet been reached. Earlier, Chairman of the Armenian National Assembly Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration Issues Mikael Melkumian, answering the question of a Sputnik Armenia, expressed his hope that this scheme will definitely be successful.
