"Coca-Cola" will process 100% of produced plastic bottles

The American food company Coca-Cola has promised to process 100% of plastic bottles it produces for drinks by 2030. To do this, the world's largest supplier of soft drinks intends to expand the processing and recycling of plastic in the countries of East Africa. "Coca-Cola" has repeatedly been severely criticized by the public for using plastic containers for their drinks. According to the Guardian report, out of the 13 billion plastic bottles sold annually in the US, half is sent for processing. Environmentalists demanded that the company reduce the production of plastic bottles or even completely abandon them. But the beverage manufacturer found another way out. The company has already opened a plastic processing plant in Uganda. It is planned to build the same plants in Kenya, in which the authorities tighten the legislation on the use of plastic. In Uganda, the processed plastic "flex" is very popular. It is used to produce household items: basins, buckets and so on. Previously, flex was imported. Now it is bought from "Coca-Cola", which significantly reduces the price of the final product, which is sold to the markets of India, Turkey, Canada and European countries. Earlier in several resort theme parks Merlin in the UK, the company "Coca-Cola" installed special vending machines that issued coupons to visitors for attractions in return for the plastic bottles returned for recycling. And in many European countries - Germany, Denmark, Norway, etc. - the buyer can return an empty container from under the drink in exchange for a deposit - the cost of the bottle included in the cost of the drink upon purchase. This way, re-use and further processing of materials from these bottles are supported.
