Job longevity as a sign of devotedness to one’s chosen business
For all life a person reflects time and again on the change of his work, but there are also those who, having come once to the labour collective, remain with it for ever. One of such devoted servants of his work – resident of Ashgabat Ashyr Amanov. Being still very young, he was employed as courier in the Turkmen news agency which was called Turkmen TAG in those days.
Started to work in 1962, Ashyr Mamedovich has been working to this day in the State News Agency of Turkmenistan – as the main news organization of the country is now called and that the most surprising thing is that in his work record card there is only one unique record.
- Studying in the senior classes, we with other boys searched a job and so it turned out that the news agency required couriers to deliver newspapers and materials to different channels, - Ashyr-aga tells. - Then there was no Internet and e-mail yet, the information was handed from hand to hand. We were given bicycles by which we rode through streets of the city and during the day went round almost all the capital.
After school Ashyr Amanov entered the university, the faculty of physics and mathematics, but did not left his work in the news agency. He studied in the evening and during daytime stayed among coryphaeuses of printing word and even learnt to set up the teletype text quickly. And when time came to serve in the army, he did not hesitate and asked to be sent to serve for his native land as one of the first.
In the army the ability of the young man quickly and competently to type the text was very much useful and having served 2 years as a military signalman, the guy developed a printing skill to perfection. Therefore he did not long think of where he would work, and right after service returned to his former place. In the 1970-s' at the Moscow festival of typing "blindly" Ashyr Mamedovich took second place, surprising all with his quickly “running “fingers on the keyboard.
- Fluent typewriting was in great demand, after that competition I was at once invited to work as type-setter of texts in the information service of the Summer Olimpiad-80 in Moscow. There I already had to master advanced models of computers of Hungarian manufacture, first there were some difficulties, after all letters on the keyboard of those printing devices set up a little in other order, rather than on teletypes to which I got used.
There are a great number of certificates of honour, every possible awards and encouragements in the collection of Ashyr Mamedovich, but what is a secret of his long work career? In 2022 it will be 60 years since the veteran of labour has been worked continuously in TDH employees of which came and left, the whole labour generations … were replaced
- Probably, I simply have not noticed how life was carried by, - Ashyr Amanov laughs. – I am already 73 years old and only now realising how these figures mean much, I for fun mentally exclaim: «it cannot be! ». And in general, nothing is terrible that at such age I continue working fully. When hands are tired of the keyboard, I knead them with hand grips which always lie in a box of my desktop. Since childhood I have paid attention to the healthy way of life, till now I keep a diet, I do not eat after six o'clock in the evening and once a week I arrange a day of limited intake of food, and as for bad habits – I have never had them.
Ashyr-aga is a modest and laconic person about whom his young colleagues tell with a great respect. Despite his age, Ashyr Mamedovich actively goes in for sports, makes jogs, runs, pull-ups and has recently taken part in the mass bicycle ride!
