President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov left for St. Petersburg, where an informal meeting of leaders of the CIS countries will take place today. On October 11, speaking at a meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State in Ashgabat, Putin invited colleagues from the Commonwealth to an informal summit of the Eurasian Economic Union in St. Petersburg, “in order to talk on current issues in a friendly, completely informal atmosphere on the eve of the New Year, exchange views on what we could do in the coming year. ” In 2019, Turkmenistan presided over the CIS. At the CIS summit in Ashgabat, a Declaration on Strategic Economic Cooperation in the CIS was adopted, the development of which was initiated by the Turkmen side. Berdimuhamedov suggested at the first meeting of the Economic Council in 2020 to consider a joint action plan to enhance economic cooperation in the CIS with a focus on the development of energy, industrial, transport and trade corridors connecting the Commonwealth states with world markets.
