Turkmen carpets will be presented at an international exhibition in Germany
Turkmen textile and carpet products will be presented at the Heimtextil International Exhibition in Frankfurt in January. This prestigious show is attended by well-known manufacturers from more than 130 countries.
As for Turkmenistan, the successes of the textile industry are especially noticeable this year. According to the State Statistics of the country, the plan for the production of cotton fabrics, sewn and knitted products, as well as carpets and rugs in January-October was overfulfilled more than 2 times.
The growth in the total value of exports of textile materials in this period amounted to over 47%. The same indicator for carpets increased 2.1 times, while their physical exports grew by only 9.4%. It’s due to the fact that the main share (65%) in the export of carpets is occupied by fine handicrafts.
The recent inclusion of the Turkmen carpet making art in the UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity will give impetus to the popularization of Turkmen carpets already widely known in the world.
