The meeting dedicated to Margiana and modern Turkmenistan was held in Berlin


A forum organized by the Turkmen embassy in Germany together with museum specialists opened its doors in Berlin, in the New Museum, where the exhibition "Margiana - the kingdom of the Bronze Age in Turkmenistan" takes place.
It was attended by representatives of the Federal Office of the Chancellor of Germany, the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy, the heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Germany, representatives of the educational, scientific and cultural communities of the country and the Turkmen diaspora in Germany.
The meeting was lead by the director of the Berlin Museum of the prehistoric period and early history M. Wemhoff. He presented a very capacious and colorful story about Margiana, the excavations carried out in this archeological complex, the living conditions of the population of the kingdom, the availability of advanced pottery production and the functioning of the meliorative system in this state, as well as the contacts of Margiana with neighboring states and countries of other regions.
A greeting speech was also given by the ambassador of Turkmenistan to the FRG T. Atayev who told not only about Margiana, which was about 4000 years ago the cradle of the highly developed culture of the Bronze Age, but also about other famous monuments of Turkmenistan, including those included in the list of the World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO - Nisa, Ancient Merv and Kunyaurgench.
The important role of the Turkmen people in the emergence and active functioning of the Great Silk Road, as well as the contribution of modern Turkmenistan to the revival of this historic highway in the aspect of implementing the largest transregional transport and energy projects was specially noted.
Participants of the forum also learned the details of the rally "Amul-Hazar 2018", which will be held from 9 to 15 September 2018 along the route of the Great Silk Road. Then an excursion to the exhibition was organized for them, where unique Margian artifacts are shown and which by this time, according to the staff of the New Museum, has already been visited by about 270 thousand people.
The exhibition will last in Berlin until October 7, after which it will move to the Archaeological Museum of Hamburg, and from March to June 2019 it will be exhibited at the Rice-Engelhorn Museum Complex in Mannheim.
