Today, the delegation from Turkmenistan has arrived in the Kyrgyz Republic for the World Nomad Games, which will be held in Cholpon-Ata, a city on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul, on September 2-8 for the third time. Turkmenistan will be represented by 40 athletes who to compete in 13 sports, including “goresh”, or traditional Turkmen wrestling, traditional Tajik wrestling, “Alysh”, or “belt wrestling”, sambo, archery, horse racing, and other traditional games. Athletes from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan are considered as main opponents of the Turkmen national team. However, our wrestlers are aimed to be winners. At the II World Nomad Games, Turkmen athletes won 23 medals in the team event, having taken 15 gold, 2 silver and 6 bronze medals. This time they intend to break a previous result. “Every day, we trained hard under the guidance of our coach Maksat Nasyrov. I am sure we will show excellent results,” says wrestler Begench Yagmyrov, who will represent Turkmenistan at the “gushtini milli kamarbandini”, or Tajik wrestling, in the 68 kg weight category. In 2011, for the first time, without any preparation, Yagmyrov participated in the International competitions on the Tajik wrestling in the 68 kg weight category and easily took the 2nd place. At the II Goresh World Championship and the Belt Wrestling World Cup held in Orenburg in 2015, Begench won his first gold medal. In 2017, at the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, the wrestler won the gold medal in the 65 kg weight category.
