Uzbek substations fail to manage the amount of electricity from Turkmenistan
Turkmenistan has begun supplying electricity to Uzbekistan. According to regional media, referring to the National Electric Power Networks of Uzbekistan Company, deliveries under the agreement with Turkmenenergo amounted to 14.9 million kW/h on December 1 and 15.4 million kW/h on December 2.
At the same time, the Uzbek energy company reported that regional substations are not able to manage the amount of electricity supplied by Turkmenistan. Due to overheating of power lines, there was a power outage in several areas of Samarkand Region, which required prompt repair work.
Earlier, ORIENT, with a reference to Gazeta.uz. Website, reported that with the onset of cold weather, interruptions in power supply occurred in Tashkent and the regions of Uzbekistan. To solve these problems, the National Electric Power Networks of Uzbekistan agreed with Turkmenenergo upon the import of electricity in 2019-2020.
According to the publication, the National Electric Power Networks of Uzbekistan Company specified that these deliveries would cause “positive changes in the supply of electricity and sharp decrease in limitations in the network”.
The bulk of Turkmenistan’s electricity exports fall on Afghanistan, where electricity ys supplied at reduced rates.
