Excellent performance of Turkmen Ju-Jitsu athletes at the Asian Games in Jakarta

The Turkmen Ju-Jitsu school is a smithy of a high-class athletes. The performance of our athletes at the Summer Asian Games in Jakarta was another striking demonstration of it. Kemal Meredov won a bronze medal in the 2018 Asian Games men’s Ne-Waza – 56 kg category. Other Turkmen Ju-Jitsu athletes – Violetta Krovyakova (in the women’s 62-kg class event), Mirali Agayev (in the men’s 62-kg class event), Jelilmuhammed Hojamuradov (in the men’s 69-kg class event) and Mergen Djorayev (in the men’s 85-kg class event) – were a step away from the medal podium, finishing the fourth in the standings.Myahrijemal TUVAKOVA
Kemal Meredov, who won the first medal for Turkmenistan in Ju-Jitsu competitions at the Asian Games in Jakarta, shared his impressions with ORIENT after a winning match.
“The support of my parents and my coach, as well as their faith in me, helped me to gain this major victory,” the athlete says.
Indeed, Kemal’s background to the long-awaited medal was not simple. Having managed to overcome rivals from Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan, the quarterfinal fight ended up in defeat for our sportsman. However, taking into account all the mistakes made, Kemal confidently won in additional fight against the representative of Uzbekistan.
At the final fight for the third place, Kemal Meredov met with the representative of Mongolia – Ulzia Togtoch Erdenebaatar – the bronze winner of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, held in Ashgabat, in September 2017. In the results of the match, which was very hard and tense, the victory was conferred to Turkmen wrestler by the referees’ judgment.
Talking about his sports career, a 24-year athlete said that was doing sports from an early age. He was trained a sambo, Russian martial art, with a coach Nejim Chariyev for 13 years. In this sport, a second-year student of the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction distinguished himself and achieved impressive results. Then he continued with a combat sambo under the guidance of mentor Nuryagdy Mamedov. In 2016, future master of sports began to do Ju-Jitsu with a coach Dovletmurad Kasymov.
Since then, Kemal has consistently improved his sports skills. At the Ju-Jitsu National Championship of Turkmenistan in 2016, he won gold in the in the 56-kg class event. At the Asian championships, he is in the Top-10. At the Ju-Jitsu Thailand Open Cup 2017, Kemal confidently won in the final fight and grabbed the gold medal.
“My dream is to win always, to become the best of the best, and to hoist the Turkmen flag proudly at the sports arenas of the whole world,” Kemal says.
