New Pakistan’s leadership is committed to accelerate work on TAPI

New government of Pakistan will make efforts to speed up work on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project. The statement came from the federal petroleum minister of this country Ghulam Sarwar Khan during his press conference on Friday. In Pakistan, the work was planned to start in May this year, but the plans could not be realized because the tenure of the former government of Muslim League was going to end on 31 May. The general elections on 25 July was won by the Tehreek-e-Insaf party and party’s leader Imran Khan took oath as new prime minister. Earlier this month Pakistani media reported with reference to Managing Director of Inter State Gas Systems (ISGS) Mobin Saulat, that the pipeline in territory of Pakistan had been divided into nine lots and each lot will be tendered. Successful bidders will be awarded contracts for different lots in an attempt to complete the project in the shortest possible time.
