Philippino Khidilin Diaz will change the weight category for the World Cup in Ashgabat

Philippine weightlifter Khidilin Diaz, silver medalist of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Asian Champion 2015, prize-winner of the world championships, moves from her usual weight category of 53 kg to a new one approved by the IWF. Changes in weight divisions come into force from the Ashgabat World Weightlifting Championships in November.
Diaz is not bothered with weight gain, she is sure that she will feel comfortable in this category, targeting for gold in Tokyo-2020.
In the meantime, she successfully took gold at the current Asian Games in Indonesia, raising 207 kg, and bypassing Kristina Schermetova from Turkmenistan, who received silver, and 6 kg - Hambao Sourochchanu from Thailand.
At the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in 2017 in Ashgabat, she won silver in her "native" category, and bronze at last year's world championship in the American Anaheim.
27-year-old Diaz plans to complete her sports career after Tokyo and open her own business, using her economic education in its management.
And one more interesting detail: in 2013, Khidilin joined the Air Force of the Philippines. In 2016 she became a first-class pilot.
