St. Petersburg Shadow Theater visits the Turkmen State Institute of Culture

Actors of the Independent St. Petersburg Shadow Theater held a creative meeting with students of the Turkmen State Institute of Culture.
The day before, guests from the northern capital of Russia presented in Ashgabat the performance “Suite for the Sparrow with a Violin”. Shadow fantasy to the music of Antonio Vivaldi, touched the hearts of many spectators.
The emotions and feelings performed at the stage via the play of light and shadow are easy to read, and a life story told in such an unusual way becomes close to everyone in the hall. How simple and at the same time it is difficult to create a shadow composition – this and many other issues were discussed during the creative meeting today.
“The art of shadow theater is a quite ancient, and it came from China and India. Today this type of art is developing around the world. It is very interesting to people as the shadows fascinates,” actor Ksenia Satsik says.
The students, inspired by the meeting with the guests of the International Theater Forum, showed several of their works with a shadow, and they managed to surprise the troupe of the St. Petersburg Theater.
“You are great! You do a great job trying to master this most difficult style of art on your own,” director Natalya Kirillova said.
The troupe of the St. Petersburg Shadow and Plastic Theater is a rather young and independent, and it has already gained popularity in home country and abroad. As permanent participants in international festivals, actors share the knowledge on skills you need to work in the “invisible space”. And, above all, you should have a gift for the art of dramatic transformation and the ability to share souls.
