Ashgabat sports hub corresponds to Olympic level

Turkmenistan’s obvious achievements in sports contribute to the country’s hosting the Olympic Games, writes the sports publication aroundtaherings.com. “We dream about this,” Daynch Gulgeldiev, Minister of Sport and Youth Policy of Turkmenistan, said in an interview with the Internet portal. “Now it is important for us to demonstrate to the world our infrastructure capable of hosting competitions of any level.” Commenting on the minister’s words, the sports publication notes that in 2017 Turkmenistan hosted the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, for which the largest Olympic town was built in Ashgabat. “This sports hub can accept any Olympic bid,” the newspaper writes. “Our main task at the moment is to successfully hold as many international competitions as possible in Olympic sports,” Gulgeldiev said. “After that everyone will know what opportunities our country has, and then we will start planning the Olympics.” In addition, the Minister of Sport and Youth Policy noted that Turkmenistan receives many applications from international sports federations to conduct competitions in the country. Proceeding from these appeals, a long-term plan for holding international competitions is being drawn up today,” Gulgeldiev said.
