During the official visit of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Italy on November 6-7, it is planned to sign a large package of bilateral documents. The documents will be signed at the intergovernmental and interdepartmental levels, as well as through the interaction of business entities of the two states. It is expected that during the Turkmen-Italian talks at the highest level, topics of cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, in the fuel and energy complex, industry, transport and communications, agro-industrial and other sectors of the economy will be touched upon. An important event in the history of the development of the Turkmen-Italian interstate dialogue was the first official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Italy in November 2009 and a working visit in May 2015. In November 2014, the Prime Minister of the Italian Republic Matteo Renzi paid a working visit to Ashgabat. In March 2019, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Manlio di Stefano, led the Italian business delegation, which held business meetings in Ashgabat. The delegation included representatives of the industrial complex, the oil and gas industry, space and telecommunications. On November 6, 2019, as part of the visit of the official delegation of Turkmenistan to Italy, a bilateral business forum in Milan in the Rosa Grande hotel, is planned. The main areas of the forum will be the oil and gas, chemical, textile and leather industries, agriculture, infrastructure and construction. Italy will be represented by companies such as Eni, CNH Industrial, Italian Export Credit Agency SACE, RINA Consulting, Pavia Ansaldo, OACC (Osservatorio Asia Centrale e Caspio). The presence of Italian business is very noticeable in the oil and gas sector of Turkmenistan. In November 2014, Eni extended its tenure in Turkmenistan under the Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) for ten years. We are talking about a contract area of more than 1000 square kilometers in the Balkan region of the country. The company also recently demonstrated interest in exploring offshore blocks 19 and 20 in the Turkmen part of the Caspian Sea with reserves of more than 500 million tons of oil and 630 billion cubic meters of natural gas. Earlier, during negotiations with Turkmenistan, the Eni leadership expressed a desire in the long term to assist in the supply of Turkmen gas to world markets.
