Tokyo 2020 announces Olympic flame arrival program

The organizing committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo-2020 announced the details of the ceremony of arrival of the Olympic flame in the Japanese capital on March 20.
According to information, on March 12, 2020, the Olympic flame will be lit in the historical “Ancient Olympia” in Greece. After completion of the initial stage of the relay, on March 19 at the Panafineik stadium in Athens, a torch transfer ceremony will take place.
The Olympic flame will be delivered to the Land of the Rising Sun by a special aircraft called “TOKYO 2020 Go”, which will land in Miyagi Prefecture on March 20. Together with other representatives of Tokyo 2020, three-time Olympic champions Tadahiro Nomura (judo) and Saori Yoshida (freestyle wrestling) will accompany the Olympic symbol.
“When I brought the Olympic flag from Rio de Janeiro as the captain of the Japanese delegation, my heart was filled with pride, knowing that Tokyo was coming. Then I left the fight. And now I am honored to fulfill this important role in the return of the Olympic flame from Greece”, comments Saori Yoshida.
After the arrival of the TOKYO 2020 Go, festive events will be organized for several days in Miyagi, Iwate and Fukushima Prefectures. And on March 26, the Olympic flame will begin its 121-day journey through all 47 prefectures in Japan, which will be held in the most famous sights of the country.
