Turkmen powerlifters prepare for the primacy of the country, Asia and the world

From August 16th to August 20th, the Turkmen Powerlifting Championships will be held in Ashgabat. Among the declared participants - the strongest athletes of the country, with the rich experience of competitions in the world arenas. The clear favorites of the tournament are world champions in 2016 according to the classic bench press according to the version of the Athletic Union of Amateurs (AAU) - the master of sports and the head coach of the Turkmenistan national powerlifting team Dovletnazar Atanazarov (120 + kg) and the Merited Master of Sports of the country Merdan Nursakhedov (up to 83 kg). The victory in the American Las Vegas athletes dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence. It should be noted that Merdan Nursahedov is the bronze medalist of the world championship in the classical bench press according to the International Federation of Powerlifting (IPF), held in Killeen (USA) in 2017. Dovletnazar Atanazarov twice became the sixth - at the tournament in Killeen in 2017, lifting the weight of 200 kg, and at the World Championships in the Finnish city of Vantaa in May this year, where he updated his own record.
In September, both powerlifters will go to the world bench press according to the version of the Athletic Union of Amateurs (AAU) in the US.
The favorite among women is the Asian champion, master of sports of international class Bibidzhan Gulmurzaeva (52 kg). She holds the fifth place in the world championship in Vantaa.
Among the participants of the forthcoming championship of Turkmenistan are silver medalists of the World Powerlifting Championships in 2013 in exercises on bench press in the city of Suzdal Makhriban Jumaniyazov (72 kg) and Sahragul Movlyamova (47 kg). The latter is a pupil of the deserved trainer of Turkmenistan, a multiple prize-winner of international competitions Byashim Amanmuradov.
In the championship of Turkmenistan on powerlifting, athletes will compete in 19 weight categories - 10 for men and 9 for women.
Also masters of sports in powerlifting Ahmed Pirov and Akmurad Saparov will represent our country at the Asian Championship, which will be held in September this year in Dubai.
