Shinzo Abe: Japanese technologies to boost Turkmen export

Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe is convinced that the combination of rich natural gas resources of Turkmenistan and Japanese high technologies would greatly promote development of Turkmenistan through the export of high value-added products. He said this during a meeting with the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in Tokyo on October 23. Abe and Berdimuhamedov noted that the mutual visits in 2015 were an impetus for bilateral relations and accelerated economic partnership in a wide range of areas. Since that time, in cooperation with Japanese companies, four large-scale projects have been implemented in Turkmenistan, including the putting into operation of a unique plant for the production of gasoline from natural gas. Shinzo Abe also emphasized that one of the factors that make the Turkmen market attractive for Japanese business is the “environment in which Japanese companies can work in a relaxed atmosphere.” According to the prime minister, it is an extremely important factor. In addition, he said that it is important to strengthen the investment dialogue.
