New Chairman of Turkmenistan National Space Agency
In accordance with the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan, Ashir Garayev, who held the office of the Minister of Communication of Turkmenistan, was appointed the Chairman of the National Space Agency under the President of Turkmenistan. According to the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan, Alladurdy Atayev, who was relieved of his duties in the post of the Chairman of the National Space Agency under the President of Turkmenistan due to retirement, was awarded with the Order of Turkmenistan “Garaşsyz Türkmenistana bolan beýik söýgüsi üçin” (For the love of independent Turkmenistan). The document specifies that the Order was conferred to the former head of the space agency for the outstanding contribution to the development of the Turkmen economy, science and technology, special merits before the state and people. The main achievement of Alladurdy Atayev as the Chairman of the National Space Agency under the President of Turkmenistan was the launch of Turkmenistan's first satellite - TürkmenÄlem 52°E on 27 April 2015 from Cape Canaveral, Florida, the United States. Turkmenistan's first satellite is used for broadcasting the national tele- and radio channels, providing broadband satellite Internet services and other types of communication services. Currently, Turkmenistan is working on the second communication satellite.
