EBRD and EU promote export products of Turkmen enterpreneurs

Ashgabat hosts a seminar organized by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in partnership with the EU funded project “Support for Further Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development in Turkmenistan (Phase III)”. A training course presents the best practices and organizational procedures for beginner exporters. This seminar from a series of trainings by EBRD on export support for small and medium-sized businesses brought together entrepreneurs engaged in the production of beverages, confectionery, textile products, as well as different types of industrial equipment. Expert and business trainer Jonathan Walden with 35 years of experience in international trade and logistics consulted business people on the development of a proper and efficient export strategy, integration into foreign markets, and ways to increase competitiveness. - Globalization provides great opportunities for exporters, opens up access to world markets. In this regard, representatives of small and medium-sized businesses need to be able to choose the right market for them in order to be competitive and gain profit as well as control risks. One of the goals of this training is to give beginner suppliers an understanding of various export procedures, the expert said. - Turkmenistan manufactures high-quality products. Entrepreneurs are really devoted to their business. And I was surprised to see today manufacturers of a wide variety of goods, which indicates the active production diversification process in Turkmenistan. As a trainer and consultant on customs strategy, trade facilitation, as well as international trade contracts and regulations of the World Customs Organization and the World Trade Organization, Jonathan Walden also informed the seminar participants on the necessity to comply with customs standards, the impact thereof on export activities, as well as export licenses and declarations. The training participants will be also acquainted with export credit schemes, payment methods, cargo insurance, etc.
