Turkmen delegation visits the Nevsky Shipbuilding – Shiprepair Plant

A delegation from Turkmenistan visited the Nevsky Shipbuilding – Shiprepair Plant, its production facilities and learned about the profile of the plant and the ships that being built here, the Korabel.ru informs citing the press service of the plant. Various stages of the construction of dry-cargo vessels of Volgo-Don Max class, rescue tugs, and passenger-and-freight ferries were presented to the guests of one of the oldest water transport enterprises in the North-West of Russia, located in the city of Shlisselburg, 40 kilometers east St. Petersburg. The Turkmen delegation included representatives of the sea and river transport industry, port and shipbuilding structures, and logistics companies. The trade representative of the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan, Alexandr Yelizarov, accompanied the delegation. During the meeting, the possibilities of Turkmen-Russian cooperation in the shipbuilding and ship-repair sphere were discussed. Turkmenistan is interested in the experience of shipbuilding leaders, as the potential of the country’s port infrastructure is growing and it is tasked to develop its fleet. A new branch of industry – shipbuilding – was established in Turkmenistan, as the new Turkmenbashi International Seaport was commissioned in May 2018. The Balkan Shipbuilding-Shiprepair Plant carries out a full cycle of work on the repair of tankers, dry cargo ships, tugboats, and others. Automated shipyard systems allow building four ships and more as well as carrying out maintenance and repair 20 ships and more per year. The Balkan plant plans to build RO-RO ferries, railway ferries, tankers, cruise, rescue, emergency ships, catamarans, etc.
