The economic strategy of Turkmenistan will be adjusted
One of the central themes of the discussion at the meeting of the Council of Elders of Turkmenistan in Ahal is the Program of Social and Economic Development of Turkmenistan for 2018-2024, which is to be adjusted at the forum.
Beforehand, the draft of this Program was presented to its delegates for review.
Dwelling on this topic in his speech to the Council, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that taking into account the economic and political processes taking place in the world that had a negative impact on the economic growth of our country, which is related to the geopolitical situation, the fall in prices for hydrocarbons, it was necessary to make adjustments in tasks of social and economic development of Turkmenistan.
This includes, inter alia, an accelerated transition to market relations, in particular, the stimulation of the non-state sector of the economy. In this context, it is planned to create joint ventures and joint-stock companies, strengthen the activity of stock exchanges and the securities market.
The President's Program for socio-economic development of the country for the next seven years defines the main principles and objectives, priority directions and expected results, as well as measures to achieve them. Among them - improving the efficiency of economic institutions, improving the system of state regulation and its modernization, reforming the financial and banking sector.
It is planned to maintain a high annual growth rate of the country's GDP (at 6.2 - 8.2%), the Head of State said.
The share of industry in the structure of the national economy will be 33% on average for this period, services 21%, construction 14%, trade 12%, agriculture 10.9%, transport and communications 9.1%.
In order to form an industrialized economy, targeted support of scientific and technical initiatives is planned. Another planned activity is the launch of the second Turkmen artificial satellite into orbit.
It is planned to erect thousands of social facilities, introduce millions of square meters of housing, further modernize engineering and infrastructure, create hundreds of small and large industrial enterprises in the business sector and special economic zones.
