The Protocol on diplomatic relations with the Republic of Djibouti was signed in the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). According to the Press Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the heads of the diplomatic missions of the two countries accredited in the capital of Saudi Arabia signed the document. The ceremony participants underlined the importance of widening the political and economic relations between the countries, expressing the mutual willingness to develop the bilateral relations. Particular attention was paid to building up cooperation in the cultural and sports spheres. In this regard, the representatives of Turkmenistan familiarized the guests on the preparations for the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games to be held in Ashgabat in September, 2017. The Republic of Djibouti is the country located on the northeastern coast of Africa, in the Horn of Africa. The country gained its independence on June 27, 1977. The capital – Djibouti city is the main industrial port in Ethiopia. The country has limited natural resources, therefore Djibouti’s economy is dominated by the services sector, providing services as both a transit port and free trade zone. The natural and climatic conditions of the two countries, including high temperatures and humidity deficiency specify the additional areas of cooperation. Rare rains in Djibouti hinder the development of agriculture, therefore Turkmenistan's water management practices, including drip irrigation, sprinkling, desalination of saline underground water or sea water can be very useful in the country. The solar panels, which are actively developed in Turkmenistan, can be widely used in the sunny African country in the future.
