Turkmenistan's population to pay for gas, light and water
Today, the Turkmen leader supported the proposal submitted by the Council of Elders on the stage-by-stage introduction of payment for natural gas, water and electricity, stressing that unprecedented benefits for citizens of Turkmenistan since gaining independence fulfilled their main function - they allowed the country to painlessly adapt to new market conditions economy. The revision of socio-economic policies and the gradual abolition of benefits is an important step in the transition of the country's economy to market conditions. It is also stipulated that the introduction of utility payments will promote more effective use of natural resources. Benefits for citizens of Turkmenistan, through which they could receive free water, gas and electricity, as well as table salt, were introduced in 1993. To finance these expenditures, huge financial resources are being released from the State Budget of Turkmenistan. Today, the level of welfare of the population allows replacing these social benefits with a balanced tariff system.
