British Scientists offer new health solution
The researchers from University of Leeds, one of the leading higher educational establishments of Great Britain, has developed powerful weapon in struggling against dangerous infections, says the study published in Journal of Hospital Infection. The self-disinfecting device, called as Surfaceskins, can be easily installed instead of aluminum door plate, as this part is used to push the door, so it serve one of the infection carrier. Innovative low-cost appliance has been incorporated with special-designed textiles, having antibacterial features. It spays small quantity of alcohol disinfection gel onto the pad when the door is pushed, so making it clear for next passing. Three separate nonwoven textiles of Surfaceskins should be changed after one-week use or average one thousand pushes. Of course, the antibacterial door pad does not abrogate usual hygiene rules and handwashing, but provide extra defence against health care-associated infections. Experts say that Surfaceskins will raise people's awareness of the importance of hands hygiene. This new technology can be widely used in households, shop centers and other public places.
