Turkmen musical instruments will be displayed at the exhibition in Baku

Turkmen musical instruments will be shown at the exhibition «Musical instruments: unity and diversity» to be held in the capital of Azerbaijan.
The exhibition will bring together 170 ancient musical instruments of 30 countries among which are China, Dagestan (Russia), Afghanistan, Algeria, Georgia, India, Iran, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and others.
Visitors will be also able to hear a musical instrument for which monitors for screening video recordings and equipment for listening audio were installed.
The exhibition will be organized at the Heydar Aliyev Centre, as the Azerbaijani mass media inform.
Existence of over seventy varieties of musical instruments –stringed, wind and percussion: tuyduk, surnai, gopuz, deprek, gyjak, oud and others is known from history of Turkmen people. However, the dutar takes one of the most important ranks in the culture of Turkmen people. Like in the olden days, today be it a wedding or a public event, one can hardly imagine Turkmen festivities without the dutar and a bard playing it.
